Introducing the 7 times table
Your child is about to start working on the 7 times table. Your child has already covered the 8, 9 and 10 times tables, so this topic also identifies patterns between these and the 7 times tables. The final module consolidates all times tables that children have learnt so far: the 1 to 10 times tables. The 7 times table is the trickiest of all, so find out how you can help.
Help with the 7 times table
- Count up in 7s together, or take turns. Count down as well. Set up a beat by clapping or clicking fingers, saying 7 times table facts in full, in time. Try working down from 12x7 to 1x7 as well.
- Set some strange creature challenges. First, ask your child to draw an imaginary creature which has 7 legs or tentacles or spots etc. Then ask them, for example, how many legs/tentacles/spots etc 8 of them will have, in total? Drawing will help!
- Print out a copy of the 7 times table to help your child remember the facts. Add stickers to facts once they’ve learnt them – and celebrate!
- Make an 7 times table slider to test your child’s knowledge of the table facts.
- Print out a copy of the multiplication square with all the times table facts they have learnt so far.
